I'm wanting to do my first deer mount of a deer that I killed last season but as I was skinning the deer I noticed a lot of hair was being pulled out as I skinned it....... It wasn't a real hot day...but warm and I got the deer in the freezer within 8 hrs of shooting it.
Will I be able to use this cape or is losing some hair a common thing? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Look up stop rot it seems to work pretty good. Is the hair slipping because of bacteria or did you just cut into the hair folicles?
I could have just cut into the hair folicles.....but when I moved it to a different freezer I showed it to a buddy of mine and I just lightly tugged on the hair and some came out....?
It's a really nice buck and I probably should have it professionally done but I've been wanted to give taxidermy a try (probably should start with a lesser buck or doe) but......
Thanks for the input!
First, when the hair is slipping, don't keep pulling on it or you will have a bald deer hide. Spray some denatured alcohol on the skin side. This should help thigten it up some. Good Luck.
