Storing cape

I've just finished turning eyes, ears, etc. What's the best way to store cap until I can move on to tanning... salt/freeze?

I freeze mine. you can salt for 24 to drain, then shake off excess salt, then resalt til hard. But I would just refreeze.

Jamie, How you store the cape after splitting and fleshing depends on how you plan to tan. If you intend to salt dry prior to tanning then I would go ahead and salt dry now rather than refreeze. Refreezing requires rethawing (of course) and this can compromise a cape. If you salt dry now it will hold fine in a dry cool place till you get ready to tan. Enjoy, Aaron H.
