Hole in the Lip

If while fleshing the lips on a deer for a shoulder mount, you cut a small hole in the outer lips that will be seen after tucking them into the form, what do you do? I rescently did that and was wondering of there was something I should fill in the lips and paint over.

use some apoxie sculpt when the mount is dry to do any repairs on the lip area, sculpt with your tools to get the desired likeness, then you can paint the mouth as you would to do the finishing touches.good luck

Keep a few pieced of the hide left from when shaving the skin, take acetone and clean the area after tanning the hide, lay the skin flat and put a small amount of glue around the hole and place the thin piece of hide over it, has worked pretty good for me, beats sewing to pieces. Bondini sold from Walmart workes great, it sticks to oily and dirty surfaces and has great holding power, I use it on ears as well.
