5 year old frozen deer hide

I didn't know where to put this...

I've just started trying to tan and have yet to even tan my first animal. I have found this site of much value. Thanks to all who participate!

I had a 5 year old cape in the deep freeze. Of course it had some freezer burned places on it. I want to tan it. I tacked it up on my shed wall and pressure washed it. It came out awesome and only took about 25 minutes to do.

Of course, the pressure washing forced blood deep into the hide, and I expected that. But something I didn't expect was the rehydration of the freezer burned portions. I had a fold right in the middle of the cape and I couldn't pull it out as I was hanging it. When I pressure washed that area, it rehydrated and came out.

It worked so great, I went bought a turbo nozzle today. Now, I'm just waiting on my Rittel's tanning kit to show up.
