ear drumming

I have just switched to using earliners. The last deer that I mounted the ears drummed a little bit and I was wondering what the best method was for fixing this.

The "BEST" method?

Jaime, often taxidermists are tempted to use the "one size fits all" mentality. Ain't happenin'. When you remove the cartilage, prefit your earliner. Don't just half-assed it. Make sure the skin FITS perfectly with no drumming while it lays in the liner. If it doesn't, cut the liner or get a larger one. Sand the edges razor thin so that a ridge won't show. Then use a good glue. Epo-Grip Liquid Fast Set or Epo-Grip Clear Paste is as good as you'll ever get, but any glue that will affix to the polypropolene liner will hold the skin from drumming IF, and only if, you insure that the liner fits perfectly.
