I am mounting my first deer and the antlers that I want to use had the skull plate cut very short so how should I attach the skull to the form when there is not very much to work with?

I would use blocks to prop it into the proper position, then screw it down. put a layer of bondo on top to secure it to the head. Finish off with plaster to get the proper shape. Thats what I would do. Good Luck.

Mix bondo with sawdust to use as a base for the skull plate. You can cover the bondo with a sheet of plastic from a Wal Mart bag, set the skull down on the Bondo until it is in the right position, and then lift it off. The bag keeps the bonod off the bone and after it hardens, you have a custom base for the antlers. Good luck.
