Rescently, I submitted 2 questions to this forum, one of them was answered. I was still curious, is there a way to gel the hair down on a maned deer. I messed up the first time, but I would like to fix it.

and this year have had two with really long manes. I called the customers and had them come in to look at them before drying began. Both wanted the manes to show. I think they look cool as heck. If you want to have it lay flat get some afro gel or dippity doo(hair gel) and lay it on thick then pin screen on it till dry. If it was my deer I'd want it up like a punk rocker.
For what it's worth I've mounted two in the last five years and both customers wanted the mane to stand up like it was on the live deer. They're rare and most customers want them to show.
i didnt know that deer had manes, are these whitetail deer youre talking about? or something else?
