Business Card

Put a business card on the back so if the guy ever forgets who did the work he can easily find your info. Plus it is a good way to advertise when his buddy asks who did it.
Word!

I hot glue a business card to the back, sign, and put the year on it. Kinda turns it into a personal art piece. Peace. Jeff F.

rubber stamp

I use a rubber stamp with ink that you use on letters and stamp everything on the back including drift wood . It works so well that I was at a yard sale a few weeks ago and found 2 small perch mounted on a board with the guys ( first fish 1978 ) on the front and when I looked on the back , it had my name on it . I bought it back for $3.00 as I stopped doing skin mounts about then and needed something from the old days for memories . Rick

They sell self-adhesive labels to order. I had a couple thousand made up with my logo, address, and phone number for less than $100. I cover the backs of my mounts with plain cardboard and then place a sticker on the back of them.

I have

a branding iron. I put my brand, which is the name of my business and my signature, on a piece of leather the size of a business card on the back of all of my shoulder mounts. I brand the wooden bases of any mount with a base.

I like it because it is my signature on the piece.

that branding idea sounds awesome. thats unique. the taxidermist who did a deer head for me when i was 15 signed his name in the back with a wood burner. he marked all his work that way. sadly, he passed a few years ago, but everytime i look at the mount, i can remember his humor, and the unique way he signed his work. a sig is a true sign of art, especially when a person is confident enough to put thier name on the work.

Brave souls

If I were Joe Meder, I might be tempted to sign my name (BTW, a branding iron really isn't any more a signature that those machines that do it for the President. They're simply copies.) I, for one, amd so glad I never signed my work on the back. Boy, just to think how some of that stuff from 4 years ago looked still gives me cold sweats. (BTW "kid", when you make the hair and skin, you can take credit. That's why I'm a taxidermist and NOT an artist.)

Another option

I have a piece of balsa that I have carved my logo and name into. I hold it against the backboard or driftwodd etc then hit it with my airbrush . It almost looks like really refined graffitii .

Good ideas...

i put a plate on back
but then again i drew it on acad programmed it
and burned it out of scrap aluminum
we throw a couple of tons away a year
after i mount the deer and staple i screw the panel on back
then iput some adhesive gasket to protect their wall
the panel flattens out the skin evenly while its drying
then i simply write my phone number with a marksalot

I just sign The back Of the check

If your work is good. the customer will remember who you are. where your shop is. and your phone number. He will pass that information on to anyone who sees the mount.
