I took my deer from the 2000 and 2001 seasons, when killed, to a taxidermist and still have not received them.If i can get the capes back would it be possible to mount them? Can you work with freezerburnt capes?

yes, most freezer burned capes can be placed in a bucket of water and usually will be back to normal in a day or so.
Just did one, I put plenty of salt in the bucket of water, and when it thawed over night, the blood came out, but the ears were still dried hard. I changed the water and added more salt and soaked another 24 hours, this helped to soften some, but the pickle softened the rest of the hard spots. The salt water soak worked the same way as salting the cape. It drew the blood and juices out, then the cape went straight to the pickle. I kept the bucket outside in the cold when I did this. No slip.

I forgot to mention,I did put StopRot on the burnt areas, this was the only thing that helped break open the dried spots before the pickle.
