What is the correct angle to mount the antlers on? I tried my first deer and it came out ok, but the transition from the antler looks to me as if I positioned the ears to low. Any help would be great.

To get the exact angle you would need to measure the tips of each main beam to the edge of the nose. But since that is not always possible, you need to get some good reference photos.
Most animal's main beams at the lower part near the base seem to pitch back at the same angle as the muzzle and forehead. Usually you can just line up the skull plate itself with the forehead on the form and make it a nice smooth transition. Then you need to test fit the cape to this to make sure the distance between the back edge of the eye, and the antler base is correct. If the skull is put too high, or too far back, then there will be a gap between the cape and the base of the horn.
If you are the one who skinned the animal take a measurment from the antler burr to the corner of the eye and from the antler tip to the nose. this will get you the perfect fit when you go to mount.
Good luck
