White Cauliflower looking spots in Ears

Submitted by Bill on 5/5/05 at 3:43 PM. ( ) 69.215.30.101

The last 3 deer I have finished have developed some white textured spots in the ears. One was so bad that I trashed it. I have never had anything like this before. I tanned the hides using Lutan F, and the ears did not appear to have salt left in them. I was extra careful after the first incident and still got them in the last two. I am using the bondo method.

The bumps appear to be under the skin, but it does not look like they are drumming.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bill

sounds like alittle salt was not washed out.

I've seen it...

and I use earliners with Epo-Grip. My only thought would be that these are the areas that do not adhere uniformly(air pockets) through the drying process and could possibly be rehydrated and worked into uniformity in a bondo situation. Other than that, you could add a little broccolli and cheese and call it a California mix! Peace. Jeff F.
