drill two holes on each side, screw to form, and use lots of bondo, will be trong as ever.

Frank it doesn't matter what method you're using to mount the deer, I'd fix it before you mount it not while you're mounting it. I've used superglue just to hold the cap together, hopefully it doesn't need any cuts/trimming to adjust to the form (you could do that after the bondo fix). After supergluing fill the brain cavity with bondo and smooth it out. As the bondo starts to kick, make sure it sits okay on the form and make sure you got the spread right or close... good luck

Broken Horns

I broke a set right down the middle. I superglued and set in place on the form w/ mache. After mache dried I drilled 2 holes on either side and secured the antlers. Nobody ever new the differance

In my opinion, mache doesn't set up hard enough...

You might better use the bondo, especially with a broken skull plate. I would also use a good fast setting epoxy instead of super glue. I use this bondo method in setting all antlers on the forms regardless of the incision. It sets up pretty fast and I don't have to shim things when the antler plates are cut incorrectly by the hunter. Firm it up by adding some hardwood sawdust before mixing in the catalyst.

If you are using the short incision don't rough up the form in this area. Set the skull plate in the bondo then when it's set up just pop the antlers off the form. The mold release still left on the form will act as a release agent to the bondo. It will fit back in place better than OJ's glove once the cape is on the form.

Secure the whole thing with some long self tapping deck screws and you will never have a skull plate shrink and work loose. There's nothing worse than having a customer call and tell you he went to move his deerhead and the antlers had loosened up and are moving.

Forgot to add...

for the short incision rough up the surface of the form after the antlers are removed and resecure with some fast set epoxy as well as the screws.
