So far, I have only had a few hides that i sent out to be tanned. When they come back they have that chemical smell. What do most of you proffesionals do to mask or get rid of it. I thought that maybe a little fabric softener when I rehydrate it might do the trick. Thanks for your time.

You shouldnt have a smell from your hides, unless you put your nose right up to the skin.
If so and the smell is vagulely like lysol... it will diminish and then disappear as the mount dries. You might still want to look into changing tanneries... quality really is all over the place once you start looking.
