Is it dirt?

Did you wash them good? Ok, maybe it is just the color of the capes? If you did everything the same as the others then it has to just be the color of the hair.

Krowtann

I have found that after the capes have dried, if you will blow them with a compressor and brush them back down, they fluff up and look like a totally different animal. Is the stuff you are talking about look like salt residue? If so then the blowing will work just fine. Good luck and email if I can help,
Stephen

thanks

I here alot of people using these strong detergents to wash furs and capes with. To get dirt and blood out of your hides should be done pryer to tanning. To get a nice clean looking mount and have a shine to the hair, use shampoo and conditioner to do the final wash. You would'nt use Liquid Tide to your hair in the shower, so why on your capes?

I think I know why he uses it

The reason he uses it is because when you buy krowtan the directions say to wash it in liquid tide and he is in the same shoes as I am and really new so we follow the dirrections but I really like your idea Paul.Hey Paul, whats your take on why they specify liduid tide,is there a cleaning agent in it safe for the hides?Buy the way great question Donruss I too just had a shoulder mount come out like that with very much the same method as you.
