I have a 22" whitetail from Maine that had a very swelled neck. I just got the cape back from the tannery (wet tanned). I am in the process of ordering the form and I was wondering if anyone has an idea of what form to purchace. I have used Joe Coombs and Macenzie and like them both. The Macenzie seems to have a choice of swelled neck forms. I have not used them but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Coombs or McKenzie make a good form. McKenzie forms do run a little bigger in the shoulder. Just finished a 23" Wisconsin buck on a 21" McKenzie 6400 series. Who ever you choose, order a inch or two smaller.
Hi Dan: Just wondering why I need to go an inch or two smaller. I have not in the past.
Thanks
Mike
Mike, What form to use on a given deer comes down much to preference-we all could say what our favorite manikin is but that would end up being more confusion than help. I suggest you check out the catalogs for forms in the pose you want. If you measure carefully and order a form with those measurements you should get a fit. 22" on a Maine deer is not huge and most all of the suppliers can sell you a rutting buck form that will give you the body size you need. You can also call the suppliers for advice in choosing between the different models. Now, my preference?-Joe Meader from McKenzie for a heavy faced northern deer. enjoy, Aaron H.
Hi Mike, I like to go a little smaller so I don't have to fight the cape. All of my tanning is done commercially, and yes they do stretch back to my original measurements. A lot depends on the pose. The industry has geared it's self towards BIGGER shoulders. These days manufactors seem to be making shoulders too big in my opinion. Sometimes it's difficult to get that last 6 inches or so of hide near the back to come together ( even on a form that is a inch smaller than the cape).I split all my capes down the back.If you are ordering a rutting neck form, you will definitely want to go a inch or two smaller. I would recommend a McKenzie form even though their shoulders do run larger. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for the help. I ordered a Joe Meder form a bit smaller than my measurements. I will let you know how I make out
