I know this has been touched on in the past, but heres the story.I had a commercially tanned cape that I rehydrated and preped to mount.I but it in a refridgerater and got busy with farming this spring and left it for maybe 6 days.Well when I mounted it up it had a sour smell to it but no hair slippage.I thought it would go away over time, but it hasnt.Tried frebreese but still smells.Any ideas or products to take care of the odor? The customer is understanding, but cant keep it in his house, his wife says no way.Could I wash it down with soap and water?

I had a guy bring in a 1/2 bear mount about 16 week old and it stunk. What I did was use premium dry dog shampoo. It's a powder no water needed.I put it on and let it sit for 10 days, then wiped it off going with the hair with hair sheen. It worked no oder, just a light baby powder smell. The mount has been gone for some 20 weeks now,no calls. I am doing a deer mount now, sounds just like the one you have. It's been sitting for 4 days now, no odor just a clean baby powder smell. If you try it let me know how you make out.
