I just got a cape from the tannery wet tanned. It is now in the freezer. I ordered my headform but I am concerned it might be too big with too much neck swell. If I thaw out the cape and check it and it does not fit can I refreeze the cape until I recieve the new form. I know that refreezing is not ideal but i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this or not
Thanks

.......Refreeze and thaw a wet tanned cape as much as you want. It's RAW capes that shouldn't be handled that way!
Thanks for the help. That makes me feel better

in a bucket of water(add a handful of salt to prevent acid swell) to check that measurement. I purchased a muley cape from Mark Haskins out in Oregon and although it was a 23 inch neck it only measured 21 inches. I contacted Mark and he explained this simple procedure he uses with all his wet tanned capes. I assumed since it was wet tanned it was ready to thaw and mount but after soaking for 15 minutes the cape stretched right out to the original 23 inches. I did use luke warm water. The tan is great and it is shaved real nice so I believe it is from a very reputable tannery. I might add that Mark is a very honest guy and wouldn't hesitate to purchase anything else from him.
You can refreeze it after you get the measurement while waiting for the form.
