fire damaged outside of oven. help?

my house mate cooked bacon in my grill while he was drunk. therefor he set it on fire. the outside of the oven looks blacker then poo i need to clean it in order to keep my deposit. how can i clean a fire damaged oven?

steel wool pad and soft scrub will do the trick. Turn the oven on warm to soften then clean

I'd start by getting rid of the room mate, then clean the oven... :o)
