i had the fortune and misfortune of seeing a recently car hit doe, was still alive but its rear legs dysfunctional, thou sad for the creature, couldn't help but analyze its face and detail, what i seen was incredible for me,
The Lacrimal crease was wide open! I took couple pictures up close so I will have for future reference yes this animal was still alive, yet extremely stressed.
In reference to this visual, when you design a deer in a predator scene, do you have the glands open? Is this a common stress event for the animal?
I have a doe, coyote predator scene I'm thinking of building.
And the reference pictures I took, should be the foundation for the expressions on the does face.

did those buck photos that I e-mailed you come through? You were supposed to let me know if they did so that I could send the doe photos also. Chop. Chop. What's the answer?
I haven't had time to down load them yet! Sorry! ( there giant files!)
And now my ever enlightening son tells me my mounts are wrong after seeing the glands!
I so envy those who get to raise these wonderful creatures.
Glen just wants stuff done NOW NOW NOW. HEY Glen! just wondering where thoes pictures came from? LOL... Just kidding! Joe
I too have pix of a deer's preorbital gland when opened. you can usaly see a waxey goo in it I don't think I have any pictures of an opened Lacrimal crease. You can send me a picture of it. no realy you can! Joe
Yes, you should open the glands up and make the eyes wide if you really want to make it look stressed. I went on a mulie deer count one year. They netted them, then we released them. All the deer sat there with their ducts wide open and their eyes bugging out. Some even screamed like a goat.
