I have a whitetail cape that i believe may be a little short in the brisket and on the back as well. I am just not sure how short i am going to be. I think it will be very close. What would be the best position, semi-sneak, semi-upright, etc, that might get me by without altering the form?

Though I hate them, alerts for short on the back, full sneak for short on the brisket, BUT you have them both. I'd still go with the alert and order a small one size smaller than the measurements.
You can call Researh Mannikens and order a form that doesn't have the backboard attached yet. Figure out where you might be short, make alteration, bondo backboard on and continue. I know you said you didn't want to alter it but this is such an easy fix it hardly counts as an alteration and it avoids the dreaded neck mount. Good Luck! Jeff F.
Matt, Often I have had a short cape that once placed on the form was not as bad as I thought. On the one you describe I would go with a form 1" smaller in the neck than the cape and select any pose that does not have a large briskit-this may be all you need to do as it seems it's an "iffy" cape and not super short. George is correct that a sneak generaly has less briskit but in the catalogs you can compare briskits and find other choices if the briskit looks questionable- if you are for sure certain the briskit is very short go with a sneak. As for the top of the shoulders, I would just sew in some skin from another deer to piece out any shortage. Not very visable there and longer hair hides the easy repair. Good luck and enjoy, Aaron H.
