Help with elk hide?/

I have a elk hide that is tanned but very very stiff ,what can I do to make it softer?Thanks Rich

salt water and rubbingn oil

get a metal tub and fill it with salt water let it set in that for about 45 minutes then let it dry after it dries put rubbing oil on it and let i6t set.
