Anyone using the McKenzie deer forms that alter the eye sockets before setting the eyes. I use the forms and it seems the eyes could be sunk in a little bit.

you are not building up the eyelid structure enough? I haven't found it is neccessary to alter this area unless I want to rotate the eyes for that special attitude or look.

Probably......

.....You are using too much clay around the eyes, giving that sunk in appearance. Try less clay next time.

i rarely use McKenzies, for that exact reason. it isnt really the eye socket that needs to be deepend. the structure of Dennis Behns skull just makes them look like the sockets are set too far apart. there are a few that are older forms and dont have that problem. but most of the newer ones do. i have heard you can call and request the "old style" head on the newer forms, but i havent tried it.

deepen them a little bit, 1/8 inch or so. Otherwise I get a bug-eyed look.

What eyes are you using?

If you aren't using an asperic type eye, then the eyes will stick out too far (IE: using concave/convex).
