Axis Deer Nose Color

Submitted by John on 7/30/05 at 5:28 PM. ( ) 24.243.47.30

I can't seem to come up with the right shade of grey for the Axis nose. I am trying to match my reference material but it keeps looking too blue or too black. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try sahara tan as your base coat

Once it dries, use a light coat of pintail gray and then a very fine mist of Payne's gray.

Thanks Goerge

I have the mounting part and the essentials down pat but I was having problems getting the nose color right. I had a couple colors that would look really good on a car but not a deer. Heck, primer grey was looking like an option with what I had.

I mix my own

Mixing neutral gray and black umber to desired tint. use this as base coat then mist over with more black umber.

Thanks Guys

Coca brown- Lifetone

along with some other subtle color blends like flesh etc. makes a good start. However, I have noticed that the Coca brown batchs seem to flucuate in shades.
