bottom of the bondo!

Today, I set some antlers and scraped the bottom of the can. What a mess! I always seem to get it on the back of my hand or fingers. It is also more difficult, using a tongue depressor, the lower the level gets. Is there another way? With as ingenious as taxidermists are, has anyone ever developed a "bondo dispenser"? Squeeze a trigger and the amount you need is placed where you want it. Okay, maybe I'm tired! It's not that big of a deal, but it would be nice to make it easier and cleaner! Terry

5 Gallon Pail

Terry,

I don't know how much quantity you use, but you can get bondo in a metal five gallon pail and buy a five gallon bondo dispenser for these containers. i've seen them just don't remember exactly how they worked, but they were pretty slick. Or you can get something like a water spicket or one of those big kethup dispensers, where you push down and the kethup comes out and you pump 17 times to fill one of those dinky containers they have at those restraunts. Probably not worth the mess of getting it into the container though, unless you found a lid and pump apparatus that fit the size bondo can you use. Never know till you try it.

Your using a tongue depressor , no wonder why your covered with it ? You can always wear a glove when removing it . Try using a large paint mixing stick . Now yes they do make a gun that squeezes out bondo in a tube just like a caulk gun . We have them at work but I dont know the name of it . You have to mix the hardner separately .Rick

I always buy the stuff by the case (1st Rule)
After you've made that mess you're talking about, DO NOT THROW THE CAN AWAY. (2nd Rule)
I took a half inch piece of aluminum tubing and flattened the last two inches of it. I cut it EXACTLY the length of the inside height of the can.

Now here it goes. Open a new can and pour HALF of it into the old can. Seal the newly opened can and put it back in the case.

With your newly built stirrer/scooper/paddle you can get every little bit of Bondo from the can, the top of the tool will stay clean, and you can live happily ever after. When that can's emptied, discard it and work on the old/new can until it's empty and then refill IT half full. That way you'll never, EVER have to deal with a full can ever again and you'll keep it off your clothes and everything else it touches.

...I'm dealing with bondo and resin. And I picked up about 200 teaspoons and tablespoons (for about$5 bucks) at garage sales. I re-use them, but if I forget to clean one off no big deal, it goes in the garbage. 199 to go...
