I was wondering what a tanned mule deer cape should go for? There are a couple on ebay one even in the 23-24 inch neck size that i am looking at bidding on and I was wondering if someone could give me a ballpark figure for what a cape in that size tanned should sell for? I hate to bid if they aren't in good shape, the cape with a 23-24 inch neck looks like a nice cape. I have a rack that my husband killed but we lost the cape during the hurricane and I want to try and suprise him with a new cape so he can get it mounted. thanks guys.

Set and watch the bids, do not bid,,,, do not bid,,, just watch everyday until the last day, look at the highest bid in the last hour of the sale and decide if it is more than you want to pay, or if you can afford it. Remember, you don't have a cape, and one that size will never go cheap. If it is affordable in you're mind, figure what you want to pay tops, and bid in the last 20 seconds of the sale. But only if the seller rating is very good. If you get it, you get it, if you don't, go look for another one. Fall and winter are coming soon, and the 2005 capes will soon be on the showroom floor. You may want to wait. I would spend for a tanned cape that size $150 - $200+.
A green cape that size,$85 - $120. Another option is to let him go hunting on a Mulie trip. It may cost more in the long run, but he probably needs the therapy of going anyway.
...how old is the cape and how was it stored after being tanned?. A cape that has been tanned but left around in a box for a year or so can dry out and when rehydrated can fall apart. Tanned capes that are stored in the freezer can last for years.
