Where can I find rifle model info?

Hey... I have come of ownership of a 30.06 rifle. There is not much info on it exept for it's model number and "laufstahl 3" printed on the barrel. (I think laufstal just means it is a light steel barrel...right?) Is there a book, or web site that I can look up the model # and hopefully find out more info on the make of this 30.06?

GunsAmerica.com
GunBroker.com
AuctionArms.com.
That's where I would start, the information you seek may not be there, but it's a place to start. You should have posted everything you have here, it might have been helpful. Have you taken the gun apart and looked for proofs? Is it a bolt? Pump? You gave us so little to go on, it's hard to be of any help.

thanks

yeah i've taken it apart... nothing found - it is a bolt. Where would a proof be? There is little info printed anywhere - I'm not even sure of the make. They guy I got it from knew little, but he did say I may have been a mass produced rifle from the World War... the barrel is obviously German. The only things on it is "laufstahl 3" and two numbers - one on the barrel and another by the chamber (P-#####)... Where else on it can I look for clues?

Send me a picture and any writing on it anywhere. I own a sporting goods store and I have a guy who works for me on Wed. that is a German Military Reenactor. He knows alot about German weapons. I'd be happy to see if he knows what it is. Can't promise anything though with just a picture.

could it possibly have been a custom built rifle in that case whatb kind of action and the stock could have been built from scratch.
