freeze drying velvet rack

will freeze drying a rack with the intent to preserve the velvet actually shrink the rack at all? the rack i speak of is an early season bow kill with the velvet almost ready to come off

The antlers are bone and bone is not going to shrink. The only "shrinkage" any rack ever has is in spread measurement caused by the contraction of the joints in the skull which MAY reduce your spread credit. But that's going to happen regardless.

ok thanks George. I figured that when they enter a head in the book they require a 60 day drying period. you hear all these methods that guys use to keep their racks from "shrinking".
