Axis Deer with docked ears

I received an Axis Deer that had docked ears. By docked I mean they were cut off half way down! They were done prior to the hunt because they were completely healed. Has anyone ever seen this before? Have you mounted one that way and how did it look? If I were the hunter I wouldn't have taken the animal as a trophy. I spoke to him about it and he was kinda peeved and said he was paying attention to the antlers and not the ears...? Go Figure! LOL! If he wants to replace the cape does anyone out there have one?

I got a NM gemsbok in that had both ears like that. It looked like Shrek. Only thing I could figure is maybe it was tagged in both ears at one time, and they got ripped out. Just a W.A.G., though.

I get them

All the time from Game ranches around here in Florida, some I have mounted that way because that is what the animal looked like, and the customer agree to it, and some I have replace the ears when I could get replacements.
