bad cape area

I was hoping for some help here. I have a deer that I have to do for a customer. Ok this is the girls first buck, so I want it to look good. When the deer was shot she just about missed it, took it right in the neck, (not a problem) but the bullets holes are about 4 inches apart, she must have just got the throat. She was using a .257 roberts in thick cover, It looks like the bullets blew up pretty bad. besides the two bullet holes there are alot of other little holes. I was soaking the hide tonight to measure it and the hair was all missing in little clumps around the bullets holes. It kinda looks like slippage but no more hair is come out, her dad did have it in his truck for awhile before I got it. But anyways this is a pretty big area of missing patches of hair (aboout 5 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches) Im not sure what to do here. Also this deer had a pretty small neck (17 inches right below the ears.) I dont know if I should cut out the bad parts and sew it back up or what? Any help with what I can do for this with an e-mail to me, would be great. Thanks alot

Sounds as if you need a replacement hide

Either that or just cut the form really short and give her a neck/head mount. Explain the situation. I have on my price list the following statement. "I cannot replace hair lost because of bad shot placement or spoilage. If I could, I'd be in a far more profitable line of work at the Hair Club for Men."
