Hello,
I just shot a nice bull moose that was half in velvet. We peeled it off and the horns were almost all white on the front part of the palms. Was looking for ideas on how to color them to natural color if possible. Someone where i live mentioned using boiled linseed oil. Does this work and will it look nice. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

thank you
Carl

Not sure about linseed oil, but Potassium Permanganate works great! buy it at Sears in the water treatment section, mix with water, goes on kinda purple like grape jelly, but soon it turns a nice brown. Put on a light coat, add more if you want it darker. Best I've used and looks natural.

thanks

thanks for the idea. I work in a water treatment plant and have access to potasium. Will give it a try. would have never thought of using it because of the dark purple color it leaves.

thanks
Carl
