Badass snarling buck mounts!

Submitted by John Bell on 9/10/05 at 12:10 AM. ( jmccbel@yahoo.com ) 24.171.42.130

I was in Cumberland City, TN a few years back and saw some real neat buck shoulder mounts with snarling canine or feline jawsets and predator type eyes. They looked like some "badass mean bucks". Gotta try and do one for myself now. Does anyone know the taxidermist that does those in that area? Or better yet can someone tell me what jawsets and eyes would work best? Thanks for your help...John

.......To retards! What can I say, I'm not a "fan" of ths novelty crap. I think it's because I did too much of it for a former employer, who loved it because he sold a lot of it to people he called "______ _______ idiots"! You fill in the blanks. Besides it varied, depending how much he milked out of it. The more they paid the more "colorful" the terms!

Inbred Deer

I did a small inbred 9 point with a 12 inch neck for a customer a few years back. He was so small the customer wanted something different. I used coyote jaws and tongue, and mountain lion eyes. Looked pretty darn good. It was fairly easy to do. I do not believe in this either but you have to do what the customer wants.

I'm with you Old Fart. That fits right up there with the coon tail on the radio antenna and junk cars setting in the front yard. How any self respecting taxidermist can justify screwing up such a beautiful animal is beyond me. Then again, my front yard has a mowed lawn and I still have all my teeth.

Excuse the F**K out of me! This was my first post ever on this forum and probably my last. I was searching for some information to try something a little different than your "run of the mill shoulder mount" and I get called a "retard and a country bumpkin". George, you sound like a real hypocrite. If you don't want to screw up such a beautiful animal, let them live......John

well

im with george and old fart! as an artist i try and make my mounts look as close to what the creator gave to us for reference as i can.
in this business you will inevitably have some clown ask you to do something that is distasteful or insulting, well you can make your own decision own building your own reputation

Hang in there! Don't let some of these guys get you down! I do a few of these mounts a year, as well as several "creatures" from customers'scrap/left-over capes and hides(in addition to mounting their deer heads). If that's what they want & are willing to pay for it, I'll fix 'em right up! Got one I'm finishing up right now for myself. Picture this: Deer head & short section of neck mounted on a foam human torso, arms, & hands- with long claws made from epoxy sculpt. It has a coyote jawset and albino sheep eyes. I got the stuff from Radio Shack to wire this "party animal" up with 'glow in the dark eyes' & a "black light set-up" in the roof of it's mouth so it'll show-up well in the dark.
I'm volounteering my little buddy to ride with a police friend of ours on halloween night... I think they'll have a ball together!
Remember, all work and no play.... -Susan

Thanks Susan!

It's nice to hear from someone positive. Your project sounds cool. An uncreative mind becomes stagnant........John
