Just searched the vault could not find my answer.To date I have never worked on a rack in velvet,Ihad a call from a costomer today who was inquiring about his 10pt whitetail that is in velvet only problem is the rack has not been in a freezer.Now how does a person know if the vevet is still ok unless its totally dryed up or has a awfull smell is there a telltail way to know it its worth the effort to preserve or not. Give it a cold water wash using your fingers to lightly scrub. You will know if it is good if it holds up to that.
That's what I would do anyway.
