drag marks in a deer cape.

hi all i have a quick question. i killed a deer the other day and i ended up having to drag it farther than i thought. so need less to say i had a bald spot on the shoulder when i got to the truck. it is about five inches long and about 3/4 in across. i think i can fix it by cutting it out and stitching up the hole. but i thought that i would ask for advise. i guess if all else fails i could just make it a pedistal and hide it with a bush.

cut it out

next time, drag it out on a plastic tarp, it slides easy, and you end up with a nice mount.

wall pedistal form

I try to talk customers into a wall pedistal mount. If you look in the catalogues they are turned harder in the shoulder area and will hide the drag better. Just pic the turn that throughs the bad shoulder towards the wall.

semi-sneak form

Last season I did a deer for a guy who dragged his buck and left a soccer sized bald spot. He wanted to keep the original cape so I used a semi-sneak form and cut it at an angle taking off the bad shoulder. It turned out to be an attractive pose.

thanks
