i killed a deer in velevet. the velvet was comming off in spots, so i just striped it. the rack was white where i removed the velvet. i stained it using minwax "early american" stain. color looks great, but there seems to be a bit of a sheen. what would you do to dull the shine? thanks

Let it dry for a few days, then hit it with a coat of krylon "matte clear".

Dirt

Mitch, when you stain with minwax, let it tack up, and then put dirt on the tacky stain, and let dry, then wipe off excess dirt, and spray with krylon satin. Works well on mule deer antlers, "provincial" is the color I use. It wouldn't hurt to lightly restain yours, and add dirt after it tacks up. Good Luck, Tim Ü
