As I have only been at this for one year but I like both and then some. What I do is start with white and spray the entire pad then I use mars red from the bottom lip up to about 2/3rds then I use steel wool to take everything off the just leaving these two coats in the cracks. then I lightly start at the bottom with dark brown and start to darken it up on the top 2/3rds of the nose. I reverse that on the bottom lip. Then I lightly go over some with black and some with paynes gray and others I stop with the brown. Then I rebuild as many of the bumps as I can ( Sorry guys I can't remember what they are called , Nodules come to mind but I am not sure that's the way to spell it) with the mod podge. Then once they dry I brush mod podge over the entire pad and bottom lip. I hope that helps.
