fungus among-us

I've heard of other taxidermists mounts that sweat or get fungus on them. It seems to happen to customers that live in very rainy, damp, wet and humid areas. Here in Hawai (having the wettest spot on earth) we get these conditions in parts of the island. Not to mention the constant high humidity. Up until now I never had a complaint about one of MY mount jobs. Now seems I have a customer that lives in Hilo (which is infamous for constant rain), that I did an axis deer for. He says that he found small amounts of mold growing around the nose and lips areas. He's cleaned it with pinesol and it came back. He says he has other mounts done by other local taxidermists that sweat constantly when it rains hard. Mine isn't sweating but it has this mold. He says that two of his mounts done out of state that was factory tanned has no problems. I tan with McKenzie brush on. This axis is a #2 SCI record. He's had no problems since I gave it to him a few months ago. But now with the heavy rains he's getting this mold. I advised him to dehumidify it for a while (he owns one) and that I would send him a fungus/mold killer which I am still researching on the net.

I have two questions:

Is there something I need to do in my tanning to prevent this? I pickle, neutralize (without salt) and rinse once more in plain water, towel dry and apply tan.

Can anyone recommend a remedy for this particular mount?

I have checked the archives. Found some useful info but not enough.

Thanks.

... if he displays his mount inside or on his porch. I'm always amazed that people think they can keep them outside.
You stated that your near the wettest spot on earth so I assume you live on Kauai. I'm thinking of hunting pig on the islands but I'm only interested in the pure polynesian boar. I know that they only exist on mauna kea, niihau and parts of Kauai. It's the "parts of Kauai" that I'm wondering about. Any chance you could point me in the right direction?
