I Never; before getting into taxidermy this year, paid attention to the colors of a deer's ears while on a stand. I have always watched their ears so I could tell when to move, but while setting in my perch yesterday a button buck came under me and in a attempt to get a good look at his nose I drug my foot lightly across the platform. What caught my attention was his ears. They seemed to be dark brown in stead of the fleshy pink color I have noticed while on the ground when they walk by.
My questions are: could there be a blood disorder that causes this or could it be because the skies were overcast or the ground was the background?
The nose also appeared to be more fleshy than the manikins allow for as he was trying to get a whiff of me with his mouth closed. Do any of you add to the lower portion of the nose to puff it up with some poses? Or could it just be that the manikins I've been using have to narrow of a nose. The Ben Mears Nose on the last manikin i used looks about like what I saw.
Thanks for your time
Joey
