I have some old elks horns i want to put on the peek of my garage - i've been told they will weather fast..what can i put on them so they will last for years.. varnish?

I use a clear coat varnish. I put 3 good coats and they are good to go. They have a shiny gloss on them and some people do not like it that way, but i like the new look the gloss it gives em. not sure how tey are affected by sun damage, but i assume they help greatly.
is not going to protect the antlers from sun damage. The clear gloss does not filter out uv rays, it only will repel the rain from the antlers. In time your antlers will turn white due to the uv rays of the sun.
