beetles with velvet antlers

i want to do a european skull mount with a velvet antlered buck qnd am planning to scrape the velvet off and flock them but would want to know if the bucks would eat the soft antlers or if it would be fine

I know the bucks wont...hehe. I know, just a typo. But a good question. If the antlers are forming still and porous, I wouldnt trust the beetles. Im assuming though, that if youre going to strip and flock them that they were all the way formed. Solid antler of course would not be affected.

what I have done in the past is cut them off right under the burr and freeze dry them...process the skull as normall and then re-attatch the antlers with a key glued in two parts. Worked great
