Hey fellow Southern zone New Yorkers. What was opening day like around you? Man in my area there were no hunters! For a Saturday opener the numbers seemed way down from years gone bye. The sad part is, besided my son, I can't remember the last time a saw a youngster in the woods. We have to get the big game age limit (16 years old) lowered. Kids are inot other things by that age.

Hi your right not many in the woods hear in ulster county either. My son comes out with me but is yet to young to hunt but at 11 he's a crack shot and can't wait til he's 16. The problem is hunting land i'm in jeperty of losing land i've hunted since i was 14 and i'm 43 now.

They were banging away up here where I live. Most guys Im talking to say the lack of agriculture in the southern tier coupled with the increased farming up here makes it a no-brainer for many to stay up here to hunt. Theyre seeing deer, more than at their camps. There was constant gun reports Saturday here. By the way, I returned your call, did you get my message?
