Need help on coloring bleached whitetail horns. I've tried some stains, like walnut, but they looked stained when I finished. Are there any pre-mixed stains out there or does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Yes they will looked stained when the stain is first applied. Now take some fine steel wool an polish(buff) the horns. This will give them the dull effect that you are looking for. Also you can rub some pine bark or oak to the base of the horn to give a more natural look.

You'll probably get some better answers.

Travis, did you bother to check our archives?

I already know as there are 451 posts on this subject on there. There are various methods of staining, but the one you chose, in my opinion, is the weakest you'll find.
