Whitetail Mounting Kits

Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on if there is a kit that anyone can recommend or if it is better to buy individually. I am planning on doing just a few mounts for practice but want them to turn out to the best of my ability and not have to worry if the materials are quality or not. I looked at kits from Van Dykes and WASCO and there seems to be quite a bit of difference. My hides are being commercially tanned so I dont need the DP or tanning supplies that come in the kit. Any info on best route to take is appreciated as I want these mounts to look good and last.

Thanks,
Lindy

you will of course see many variations in the kits. sinceyou are having them commercially tanned, what i would look at are the mannikins that are more user friendly, the ones that have marked points to get the eye offset, or the eye capsules (i have not tried yet but am intrigued by them).. and the same with the ears and ear butts. the eyes and ears are the usual places where the most errors and unhappiness with the finished product seem to occur..

GET GOOD REFERENCE material.. this cannot be said enough.

just take you time and remember that you are still learning. trial and error are in most cases the best teacher.

good luck.
