I got a nice buck recently and my first thought was that he was not as good as one I already had mounted so I was going to opt for the antler mount. Now I am having second thoughts and am wondering what it would take to mount without the original cape. Can you purchase capes? approximate cost?

Lee, you need to look at you're states laws and see if it is legal for you to buy or sell capes or animal parts. A taxidermist or fur buyer may be the only ones to purchase a cape for you. But to answer you're question, yes you can mount any cape to any antler as long as they match close to age and size.
