I just got a request for a deer foot to be mounted. I have never done one before. Only shoulder Mounts. I send all my hides out to be comercially tanned. My question is can I use dry preservative on this and an artifical deer foot form? I really dont want to send a foot skin to the tannery.
Thanks
Mike

Mike ,I personally liqua-tan the skin for the deer feet that I get in.O.k. I'LL tell you the truth ,my wife doe's them, had to say that because she's standing over me.I guess d.p. would work for those skins, but I have never used it on them,so I don't know if it would shrink too bad,I just paint the liqua-tan on and sew um up-no salting or pickle.
i wash with lysol and rinse real well then use borax have had no problem with shrinking and have done plenty. good luck
have you ever thought about freeze drying them?
