Shed Antler/The Buck That Dropped It

Submitted by Tim on 12/13/05 at 11:49 AM. ( )

Two springs ago my dad was out farming and came across a very nice shed antler. The next fall he was fortunate enough to shoot the deer that had dropped the antler. He had the buck mounted. I was wondering, what would be the best way to display this shed next to the head on the wall?
Thanks for the help

Hanging it

Umm, Hang it next to it?

You could

Get a panel that will fit the deer and have room on the bottom for the shed. You may have to have one custom made. I think that it would look pretty sharp that way.

pedestal mount

try one of the pedestal mounts with the shed antler in between the base and the mount. look in some of the supply magazines or some of the Taxidermy Today issues, i know there are photos of mounts like this somewhere in there and they look pretty cool.

Add it to the habitat

I would make it look like a shed in amongst some grass and other habitat at the bottom of a pedestal mount. This way it would take a bit for the viewer to realize that its from the same deer.
