Hi guys and gals, just got a deer yesterday that had been caped all the way to the back of the head. there was no neck meat left for measureing. in fact the processor darn near fleshed the thing for me. anyway I took measurement of neck laying flat behind ears got a 10 so should I double it and add 1 inch or just double it. Thanks for any help!

don't even worry about measuring it yet. i wouldn't concern myself with measuring the neck on the deer. do you tube your capes or split them down the back? if you split them down the back you can measure it by laying it out flat or else wait until its tanned and then measure. i don't think you will get as accurate of a measurement by measuring the neck of the carcass anyway. but hey, that's just my opinion.
add an inch, subtract one if anything at all. i usually wait till after theyre tanned and rehydrated to measure. good luck
I did the y cut on this deer and I use DP on deer, I know! but it works for me. thanks for your reply
