friend of mine just sent me a deer. just took it out today to thaw and noticed a slug hole in neck not more than 12 inches from base of ears. also when he caped it he cut up the front tofar past the brisket. and if that wasnt enough he handed me the antlers and told me how they both fell off when the buck turned to run after he shot it. tell me if you would go to all the trouble on this deer or just pass on it thanks

Sew the brisket if you can or do a neck mount. The slug hole should be to bad.Just my thought. Good luck.
Dont waste your time, get a replacement cape.
20 minutes of sewing would seem like a good deal versus buying a cape, at least it would appear that way to me.
Don't know how experienced you are, but the brisket is easily sewed and the slug hole is repairable. The anlers can also be repaired. These are all good lessons in repair and all of the answers are in the archieves. Give it a try,,,you have nothing to lose, and you will learn something. If it doesn't turn out, then get a replacement cape. Good Luck !
For the experience if nothing else.
