I have problems at times keeping the skin at the antler base close . Is there methods used to insure a tight permanent fit?

I use apoxie sculpt around the antler burr along with a good dose of Epo-Grip. When I've sewn it up I'll press up on the apoxie to form a real tight seam. When the apoxie dries it will never shrink or pull away...
I have never tried a different way, but only becuase I didn't have to. A ring of apoxie, and press the skin into it. It will not move, and makes for a nice fit around the burr.
I had a problem with my first couple deer pulling away at the antler. I take a dremal tool and cut a groove just under the antler bur bout 1/8" wide or so. I realy have no idea how to describe this. Start your stiches back an inch from the back of the antler bur and make your way back. Make sure your stiches fall in that groove you cut and use a good glue The stiches along with the glue will help hold the skin in place.
I use Buckeye Supreme and put a glob of glue between the eyes as a reservoir before I sew up the seam. Once the seam is sewed up, I go around the antler bases and super glue the hide tight to the antler base bone. Once the super glue is dry, I push and squeegee the hide paste up between the antlers and back over the Y-incision. Never had one pull loose yet.
