I have always DP'd but I am fixing to use Mckenzi tan for the first time on a mount (its a bobcat). Do I tumble the skin before or after I apply the tan?

Why are you tumbling it at all?

McKenzie Tan is designed to be a paint on WET TAN. Just wash the tanning solution off after a minium of 6 hours, spin dry or towel dry, and mount or roll it up and freeze it till you're ready to mount.

if you choose to...

...after you DEGREASE it, youll neutralize the pickle, wash, tan, then I like to freeze them. When I thaw them, thats when I tumble, just enough to clean them up, no more.
