Anyone use these mannikins for whitetail deer? I always seem to have trouble getting the eyes just right, with the clay and trying to set the skin around it. It takes forever with me. I'm looking for a solution to cutting the time down. Any ideas?
Also, when using the ears back earliners from McKenzie, they only come one size, and I always run into them being to small on some deer. They also don't fit on the forms perfect, unless they are completely back. How do you get the ears to go have way back or in different positions using earliners? What are you best bets on these two problem areas that I have?

I like the pre-set eye forms. For the commercial taxidermist they are tough to beat. Ear liners? The only way to put them in any position is to use ear liners with out ear butts. And make your own ear butts out of clay. Later! Joe
and they were okay but one of the eyelides was choppy because it didn't release from the mold %100 and the other form did not have the eye with the white band around it. You still have to get the eyelid skin behind the eye which when I read the instuctions it said nothing of doing this but I did it anyway. I still had to use minimal clay in certain areas and I figured it saved me about a half hour per mount and I found it harder to try to give it that "look" to match the pose. But I guess if you get proficiant at using them and its commercial mounts they will work fine.
it doesnt allow you to put your own personal touch own your deer and they make it way too easy and they dont look that great.
Try a Revolutions form (90-100 eye socket). They have all the advantages of a pre set eye with the flexibility to add your own eye setting. Try one and see if you like it. Go light on the amount of clay that you use.
For the ears - try an Epply ear system - not sure what it is called but it has a ball on the end of the ear liner which slips into a piece that is screwed to the form.
I think if you try the two of these you will like them.
